Fees
to expect:
- Application
fee: This is a
non-refundable fee which the apartments charge
to cover the cost of a credit check and
verification of the information on your
application. Average fee is $30.
- Security
deposit: This
deposit is refundable, upon move-out, depending
on the condition of the apartment. Deposits
usually range from $100 to $400 unlike the
"one month's rent" common in other
parts of the country.
- Cleaning
fee (sometimes called an administrative fee):
Non-refundable. It is applied
to the turn-around costs of getting the
apartment ready for the next renter. Average fee
is $150 due upon move-in.
- Pets:
Many apartments will
accept pets under 20 lbs. with a deposit or fee
of $200 - $300. Larger pets are a special
situation and only a few apartments accept them.
Some apartments also charge a monthly "pet
rent" in addition to the pet deposit. Apartment
Finding Service
will help find the right apartment for you and
your family pets.
